Human Rights and Environmental

We work closely in this area with our sister firm in the US, Hausfeld LLP, which led by Michael Hausfeld’s pioneering work in the field, has a long tradition of bringing complex International and domestic human rights cases as seen in the Khulumani, Holocaust, and German Labour camps cases. The Hausfeld teams in the US and London work closely with survivor groups, NGO’s, world experts and academics, and local practitioners in multidisciplinary teams. We look for creative new ways to apply the law to seek access to justice for victims of human rights abuses.

Our team in London is involved in working to make multinational corporations accountable for their operations abroad under international and national laws. In this context, we have been involved with the work of Professor John Ruggie (Special Rapporteur for Business and Human Rights) at the UN level. We have also recently been engaged by global human rights organisations in their bid to prevent changes to the civil costs regime in England & Wales which will adversely impact victims of human rights abuse abroad attempting to bring actions in the UK.

We also continue to build our expertise in the climate justice area and are currently liaising with representatives from affected States on their prospects in environmental claims involving future climate change.

Ingrid Gubbay who heads our Human Rights team has expertise and consummate interest in bringing actions involving domestic and international human rights and gender issues.
