Fasteners and Threads

We are instructed by a group of clothing, leisure equipment and furniture manufacturers to recover compensation for losses caused by 4 cartels affecting purchases of zips and other fasteners and 3 cartels affecting purchases of industrial/automotive thread. 

  • In 2007, the European Commission found 4 separate cartels to have been in operation between manufacturers of zips and other fasteners between 1977 and 2003. Details of the companies involved and period for each cartel are set out in the attached table.
  • In 2005, the European Commission found 3 separate cartels to have been in operation between manufacturers of industrial and automotive threads between 1990-2001. Details of the companies involved and period for each cartel are set out in the attached press release.

The cartels affected the prices paid for zips and other fasteners; industrial and automotive thread within the EU during the respective cartel periods. Further information can be provided to any business or individual who believes that they may have a claim.
