Elevators
We have been instructed by the Stichting Elevator Cartel Claim Foundation to assist claimants recover damages arising from a European lift and escalator cartel.
The Cartel
In 2007, the European Commission found that the Otis, KONE, Schindler and ThyssenKrupp groups had operated price-fixing cartels for the installation and maintenance of lifts/elevators and escalators, in breach of EU competition law. The cartel operated in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg between 1995 and 2004. In its decision, the European Commission expressed concerns that the effects of the cartel might continue for many years to come, as maintenance is often carried out by the same companies that installed the equipment in the first place.
